Are you getting ready to open up your family pool for the summer? Then Coastal Pools will be happy to help. Our services encompass all aspects of pool opening, including pool cover removal, equipment inspection, chemical balancing, and more. When our team has your back, you can have complete confidence that your pool will be safe and ready for months of family fun.
Chemical balancing is an essential aspect of swimming pool maintenance. When the pool water’s chemical levels, including free chlorine, total chlorine, pH level, calcium hardness, and total alkalinity, are well balanced, it ensures the safety and comfort of the swimmers.
Pool owners should routinely have these levels measured and make necessary adjustments with pool chemicals such as alkalinity increaser or ph decreaser. Ensuring the correct alkaline range prevents the pool water from becoming too acidic or too alkaline, which can cause discomfort to swimmers, damage the pool surfaces and equipment, and promote the growth of algae and other contaminants.
Moreover, balanced chemicals also maintain the water quality, keeping the water clear and preventing scale buildup on tile and deck equipment. As a result, hiring professional pool opening services at the start of the season can save a pool owner from costly repairs and maintain the longevity of the pool.
Before the pool opens for the summer, it’s imperative to have all the pool equipment inspected. Pool inspection includes checking the pool pump, heater, lights, safety devices like the diving board, and deck equipment. Our professional services conduct a thorough inspection around the pool, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and identifying any potential issues that could lead to costly repairs down the line.
For example, the pump, which plays a crucial role in circulating water and distributing chemicals, must be in good working order to prevent stagnant water and the proliferation of algae. Similarly, the pool cover, which has been shielding the pool from debris and varying weather conditions during the off-season, must also be inspected for any damage. In most cases, timely detection and rectification of equipment issues not only saves money but also ensures that the pool’s opening is smooth and the pool is safe for use.
The removal of a pool cover, especially for inground pools, can present a host of challenges if not done correctly. In many cases, accumulated water, debris, and other contaminants on the pool cover can spill into the pool water during removal, making the pool cleanup process more complex and time-consuming. If the cover is not correctly handled, it can also result in damage, which might require a replacement.
Moreover, the water level in the pool can drastically change after removing the cover, especially in the deep end. So it’s important to measure the water level and temperature after the cover’s removal. It’s advisable for pool owners to request professional pool opening services to handle the pool cover removal process. These experts ensure that the process is done correctly and safely, saving time and avoiding potential issues that could affect the pool’s opening for the season.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 100% Recommend for ❄️winterizing❄️ your Pool. Very competitive rates, sent 28 photos of the job (since I was not home at the time), listed exactly what they did, water testing results etc. I've used 3 other companies and so far, this was the better experience and competitively priced! 👍👍👍+1Posted on Google![]()

We were referred to Coastal Pools by our builder . We were not looking for lots of bells and whistles, just a 16 x 40' pool for laps and fun times with family and friends. They focused on our wants, and did not push to upsell us which we appreciated. As the build began, Lee, our Project Manager, was very communicative and kept us up to date. Dani, the project organizer/engine kept us informed as to everything being done on a daily basis. When we had questions or concerns, she ensured we received an answer and understood the answer! As we were out of state, we had the service team perform the brushings and warer checks for the pool's first month. We received daily service reports with pictures every time the service personnel were here. Today we had Pool School with Mitch and Mason...what a great experience! We now understand our pool much batter than our last one AND feel empowered to take preventive and corrective action should the need arises! Brad, the owner, has built a great team. This is a Great company to work with!+1Posted on Google![]()

Can't say enough great things about our experience with the team from Coastal Pools. The communication throughout the entire process was flawless, and they showed that they truly cared about every detail along the way. Our project manager Lee Petty answered every question and shared his own suggestions and ideas along the way which was incredibly helpful. Dani Hurlburt ran the scheduling and organization of the job and there was not one single task or day where the work wasn't completed as scheduled. Chris Conley helped us with a great design and guided us every step of the way as we chose materials and finishes to make sure every decision complemented the other. I've done countless projects over the years, and this was without a doubt one of the best companies I've ever worked with!Posted on Google![]()

An exceptional experience from design to completion! I can't say enough good things about my experience with Coastal Pools, and a big part of that comes down to the people. Lee Petty, my project manager, was outstanding. He was meticulous in every sense of the word, and his attention to detail in making sure everything was built perfectly and to specifications was phenomenal. Lee clearly takes pride in his work and holds himself and his crews to a very high standard. He kept me informed at every stage, explained what was happening and why, and stayed on top of the plan from start to finish. I always knew where things stood, and I never had to wonder whether something had been overlooked. Having someone that dedicated overseeing the project made all the difference. Dani Hurlburt worked behind the scenes keeping everything on track, and her role can't be overstated. She coordinated the many moving pieces of the project seamlessly, and her communication was exceptional. Whenever I had a question, Dani was responsive and on top of it. Her organization and follow-through kept the project moving smoothly, and I always felt confident that nothing was falling through the cracks. Brennan Anders, my salesperson, helped me make all of my selections and design the pool. I went through many iterations of my custom design, and Brennan was patient with me through every one of them. Beyond the team, Coastal Pools has excellent systems in place. Their design tools let you truly visualize what your pool will look like before construction starts, and their project management system kept me fully aware of each task and when it would be done. With Coastal Pools, you get what you pay for: quality work, outstanding communication, and true professionalism. I would recommend them without hesitation. Special thank you to Lee, Dani, Brennan and the entire Coastal Pools team involved in building my pool! I wouldn’t want to have done this project with anyone else!+0Posted on Google![]()

Very happy with our new pool by Coastal. Lee and his crew did a great job and were a pleasure to work with. Very responsive and informative. Lee was particularly helpful as the pool was being constructed mostly in our absence. Dani in the office was also great and kept us very informed throughout the process. I highly recommend them if you ever pursue a pool.Posted on Google![]()

We had a great experience with Coastal Pools. We took on this project with some degree of trepidation. It seems everyone on the internet, and even in person has a bad story to tell about building a pool. Our story is a success. Coastal Pools, in particular Lee Petty (project manager) and Dani Hurlburt (project coordinator) were responsive, efficient, and a pleasure to work with.Posted on Google![]()

When it comes time to open your pool for your summer, Coastal Pools will have you covered. Unlike other pool companies, our services go beyond just renovations, which is why we’re committed to helping with all aspects of your pool’s continued maintenance — and pool opening assistance is no exception.

The ideal time to take off a pool cover is during the pool opening process, typically in the late spring when the outdoor temperatures consistently stay above freezing. This timing helps to prevent potential damage to the pool from late frosts and reduces the likelihood of algae growth, which thrives in warmer weather.
Chemically balancing a pool usually takes between 24 to 48 hours, but the exact timeframe can vary based on several factors, including the initial condition of the pool water, the size of the pool, and the effectiveness of your pool’s pump and filter system. To ensure safety and maintain optimal water quality, pool owners should test the water using a reliable pool testing kit after adding any chemicals. Chemical levels such as free chlorine, total chlorine, pH, calcium hardness, and total alkalinity should all be within their appropriate ranges before using the pool.
Yes, it’s highly recommended to shock your pool right after opening it. This process involves adding a high dose of chlorine to the pool water to eliminate bacteria, algae, and other contaminants that may have accumulated during the off-season. Shocking the pool helps to sanitize the water, restore chlorine levels, and ensure a clean and safe swimming environment. Always remember to follow safety precautions and manufacturer’s instructions when handling pool chemicals.
